Villa at Terracina Grand Presents Grant to Student Leaders in Recognition of Drawing for Dementia Efforts

NAPLES, FLA. (December 18, 2024)Villa at Terracina Grand, a memory care community located on the Terracina Senior Living campus and managed by The Goodman Group, recently held a grant presentation in recognition of Drawing for Dementia. This initiative, which originally began as a club at Naples High School led by student Gabi Boyd, provides an opportunity for students to visit with memory care residents and work collaboratively to create engaging art projects that enrich quality of life and foster meaningful connections between generations. These efforts have led to transformative benefits in the mental health, motor skill, cognitive function, and emotional well-being of those experiencing memory loss at the community.

Villa at Terracina Grand proudly honored the joint effort of students, their teachers, residents, and family members at the grant presentation and reception event on December 16. The event began with a demonstration of the Drawing for Dementia class to exhibit the initiative and showcase the group’s collaborative work, followed by a speech from The Goodman Group’s CEO, Craig Edinger, who presented a $2,500 grant to the program’s student leaders for their meaningful contributions to the effort. Attendees enjoyed a reception to conclude the event, which was made complete with refreshments, fellowship, and displays of art created during previous Drawing for Dementia sessions.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our local student leaders, volunteers, educational team members, and school administration involved in the Drawing for Dementia program,” says Executive Director Brant Huisman. “This initiative has created lasting meaningful impacts on our residents, families, guests, and community members. It has quickly become a very important and special aspect of the care that we provide to our residents each day.”

Villa at Terracina Grand offers Pearls of Life® memory care, which recognizes the value of each individual and helps residents live dignified, well-rounded lives, discovering the treasures, or pearls, within. The Pearls of Life memory care neighborhood offers Montessori Inspired Lifestyle®, a positive approach to providing care for adults living with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Based on the methods of Maria Montessori and as adapted for adults by Dr. Cameron Camp, founder of the Center for Applied Research in Dementia, this approach of care allows residents to focus on their individual strengths and engage in meaningful activities.

The community is eager to continue celebrating the collaborative efforts of generations through the Drawing for Dementia program.
