NAPLES, Fla. (Dec. 17, 2015) – Villa at Terracina Grand, a groundbreaking memory care community developed and managed by The Goodman Group, has received a Stand Alone Memory Care category nomination in the fourth annual Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Awards. Villa at Terracina Grand is the only nominee located in Naples, and one of two in Florida.

Villa at Terracina Grand is among 12 nominees in the Stand Alone Memory Care category. More than 60 senior living communities nationwide submitted their new construction and renovation projects, each vying for top honors across seven categories.

Villa at Terracina Grand is a 60-bed, 61,000-square foot community designed as an international center for innovative memory care. It is dedicated to developing and offering evidence-based advancements in experiential healthcare approaches. Villa at Terracina Grand celebrated its grand opening on April 30, 2015, and reflects The Goodman Group’s 50 years of senior living and health care experience. The community is intended to celebrate each resident’s strengths while upholding their dignity, quality of life and sense of purpose.

The Nature Immersion Room, for example, provides a multi-sensory experience intended to soothe and help emotionally center individuals by bringing nature indoors. Through special lighting and other features, the room reinforces circadian rhythm, an “internal clock” that follows a 24-hour cycle, which is key for memory function and a daily sense of routine.

Residents and guests can also enjoy the pathways of Arabella’s Garden, a therapeutic, peaceful and private central courtyard garden. Accented by colorful tropical plantings and sculptured fountains, it helps promote health and wellbeing. It is named in honor of a former Terracina Grand memory care resident who loved to garden.

Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Awards projects were judged by a panel of industry experts who evaluated nominees based on design and aesthetic criteria. Judges analyzed design elements such as color, light and landscape architecture, as well as community functionality by analyzing key features that are critical to property type, such as universal design techniques.
