Villa at Terracina Grand, A New Premier Memory Care Community Under Construction in Naples, Reaches “Topping Out” Construction Milestone

Developer and Construction Crew Celebrate Occasion By Helping Sister Memory Care Community on the Campus

NAPLES, Fla. (June 11, 2014) – Villa at Terracina Grand, a premier new senior living memory community on the campus of Terracina Grand, today announced that it will reach a key milestone in the development with the topping out of the two-story, 55-apartment building, designed with a spacious and private, central courtyard. As customary in the building industry, a topping out ceremony will be done on-site followed by a “hard hat” deluxe barbecue lunch indoors on June 19 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to thank the construction crew, and commemorate that the overall building’s exterior structure is completed, the roof is dried and the last beam is placed.

Known for their outstanding dining, Chef Joseph Rotondo at Terracina Grand, is preparing a full barbecue buffet with ribs, chicken, burgers, corn on the cob and all the fixings.

The general contractor for the project is DeAngelis Diamond of Naples, Fla. The architect is HKS Architects of Ft. Meyers, Fla. and Dallas, Texas. Project development and design is being managed by JBG Design & Development of Chaska, Minn.

The Goodman Group, the development and management company for this new community and Terracina Grand, wanted to do even more to mark the construction milestone for this specially designed, purpose-built memory care community. Beyond the tradition of placing a tree atop the building’s roof and hanging a commemorative flag, they invited representatives of the crew to join them in helping residents at the existing Terracina memory care community on campus by planting a special tree in the existing memory care garden. They chose a Tabebuia Tree, a highly ornamental tree that is well-suited for South Florida and welcomes spring with a heavy bloom of pink trumpet-shaped flowers. In summertime, the tree provides shade to outdoor areas and be an outstanding accent for the garden area.

“Among the many innovative Life Enrichment programs we use in our national, award-winning Pearls of Life® dementia program, we found that integrative therapies, such as the use of plants and essential oil aromatherapy, as well as the dramatic impact of music and art, engage the resident’s senses and provide comfort and relief for many ailments,” said Peter Hendrickson, executive director, Terracina Grand. “They also help reduce agitation, and in some cases, decrease the need for psychotropic medications.”

“Villa at Terracina Grand will feature an upscale countryside estate and relaxed resort-style design with custom painted faux sky ceilings and large murals of regional nature areas, to bring the beauty and ambiance of the outdoors inside,” he added. “We will also have a spacious orangery (conservatory), a screened porch on the west lounge on the second floor is available, as well as access to a lushly landscaped area on the ground floor.”

“Villa at Terracina Grand” will accommodate up to 60 residents needing memory care. This community’s focus is on individuals with all stages of Alzheimer’s, and other forms of dementia. The new memory care community is situated on the Terracina Grand campus, near the corner of Davis Boulevard and County Barn Road. The community will feature well-appointed studio apartments, friendship suites, and one-bedroom apartments, and is expected to open in January 2015.

The memory care community will operate in a self-contained home-like environment and provide personalized care plans. The Pearls of Life® program recognizes the value of each person and assists them in discovering the treasures within themselves. The program focuses on each individual’s strengths and promotes opportunities for new successes each day.
